‘Tis the season for giving
I can’t believe it’s just a week until Thanksgiving. Doesn’t it always seem that the fall goes by so quickly?! Anyway, I’ve had a lot of things taking my attention away from the season, things that have finally come to an end or are about to. The semester, for instance. With just a few weeks left before finals and students zeroing in on specifics, my work there is nearly done. I’m so ready for all the wonderful things this holiday season will bring!
As we begin to think about the upcoming holiday season, with Thanksgiving and beyond, we spend a fair share of our time planning the gifts we’ll give and the get-togethers we’ll attend or host. Those of us who give handmade gifts have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. On the one hand, every stitch we create is done with love. However, it seems there’s never enough time to get everything done. The miracle is…it all seems to work itself out somehow.
Unfortunately, so many people are suffering, especially those who don’t have enough to cope with the changing seasons. It’s time for us to remind ourselves that we crafters can help by providing handmade knit or crochet scarves, hats and mittens. For almost 10 years, I’ve collected scarves to deliver to a ministry in the Lehigh Valley. However, I’ve just donated the last 20 scarves I have. So, I’m asking that you click on the Bear Hugs tab on my website and find out how you can provide a touch of love and warmth to someone in need. If you don’t have time to fit something in before the year is over, remember the winter weather, and the need, continue through at least February. Please consider making an item and send it to the address I’ve included on my website.
Here’s a little inspiration!
