Pattern Update | Touch of Fall Cowl
My favorite season of the year really is spring. But, fall comes in a close second. Cool temperatures, beautiful rich colors, the lead up to a spectacular holiday season. And, it means we get to pull out all of those amazing sweaters and scarves that are perfect for the cooler weather. The weather has been hinting at fall-like temps, getting all of us excited for the season to arrive in earnest.
I love my “Touch of Fall” cowl for the season because it’s just the right weight. But it needed an update. Here are the details about this year’s version.
The Yarn – we are knitters “The Cotton”
As a designer, I’m always looking for new yarn to try. I’ve seen quite a lot lately about we are knitters on my Instagram feed, and the pictures and descriptions of their yarn look absolutely scrumptious! Because I wanted this cowl in a yarn appropriate to the season, I was intrigued by “The Cotton“. This yarn is 100% peruvian pima cotton, a luxuriously soft yarn with colors that are rich and full, invoking images of fall foliage and warm spicy drinks. I couldn’t resist so I chose beige and wine for this update.
The size – bigger really is better!
The original pattern used one skein of Cottonation, resulting in a narrower cowl. This time, I used 2 skeins of alternating colors, giving me more latitude with the width. Because “The Cotton” is so incredibly soft, I made the cowl nearly twice as wide (at 11.5″) for a more luxurious feel. And, I wanted to experiment with how the alternating colors would accentuate the stitch pattern. I think it turned out pretty gorgeous!
Where do I get it???
